Sermon: Palm Sunday

Being good, doing good, and helping other people is nice. It's good. Hard to claim that you're a faithful Christian if you're being bad, doing bad, and ignoring other people. . . but there is more to it than that. Because of our faith the Jesus who came among us in great humility, died, and rose again lives in us. And that's huge.

The Fifth Sunday in Lent

Some people don't like their gods doing 'new' things. Some people don't want to get their hopes up about 'new' things.

But, our God - the God who said 'Let there be Light!,' the God who split the Red Sea, and came among us in a manger in Bethlehem - our God is the God who does New Things.

Sermon: The Third Sunday in Lent

After three years of a fig tree not producing any fruit, the owner relented and said to 'cut it down.' The guy in charge of the care of the tree said, 'wait a minute, why don't I dig around it and put some manure on it, and see what happens.

Wait a minute. . . why didn't he do that after the first year? The second year? He knew what needed to be done, he just didn't do it.

Jesus said he wished Jerusalem would have been willing to let him shelter it like a mother hen would shelter a brood a chicks. But, the brood was unwilling.
